This posting, and ma...Thank you for your comments. This posting, and many on this site, are based upon drive-by news articles without additional research. Sometimes I even assume facts that are deemed by me to be non-material.

I am sorry your church has gotten dragged into this situation. But that is not my issue. I write for my own amusement. If you are not amused, then you may read elsewhere. I mean no drama in such a remark. I think the actor in this instance needs to focus on his behavior, and the public commentary be ignored as best he can.

There is little to be said in David's defense. If us adults reacted with violence everytime a teenager did something stupid, the world would be truly lesser for it.

Thank you for reading. And, all due respect, I am not a journalist and will not be sharpening my pencil. have a great day.Clydehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05402753033839890869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6441268.post-1149885961275060652006-06-09T16:46:00.000-04:002006-06-09T16:46:00.000-04:00I attended Crescent Lake for 5 years prior to the ...I attended Crescent Lake for 5 years prior to the incident and though this event was inexcusable no David's part, a few of your facts are incorrect.

FIRST, David was the Associate Pastor; not the Youth Pastor. SECOND, There WAS NO GAME OF DODGEBALL GOING ON AT ALL! It was a complete fabrication probably assumed because it was a dodgeball that was thrown.
THIRD, Mike Boudreaux is David's Father - not his brother.

The church has a Christian School. David was substitute teaching that day, and he had walked into the Gym to speak with another teacher. There were some kids there. Well, kids is a kind of misnomer, they were late teens. One 15-year-old had a dodgeball and shouted David's name and threw it at David's head. David, quite literally, never saw it coming. The ball hits David square in the glasses. The ball was thrown with such force that it shattered them - broke the lenses. The glass cut into David's face, drawing blood. David immediately reacted and pushed him down and kicked him once then stopped himself and walked off.

NOBODY is excusing David's behavior. Everyone believes that he was Absolutely Wrong and completely responsible for what he did.
David tried to make restitution, but the family refused him and filed charges.
He turned himself in as soon as he knew that charges had been filed.

As far as I know, David's momentary loss of his temper as a reaction to an unprovoked, unexpected attack; has ruined his career, devastated his entire family and harmed the reputation of the church. This was not an event in a series of outbursts. I had known David for years and had NEVER seen him lose his temper.

This is a tragedy for all concerned, most of all for the victim. Although he broke several school rules by throwing the ball at someone who was not expecting it, at a teacher, at their face - he was being stupid, not evil. I sincerely hope this person can forgive and let go of bitterness and the sense of betrayal that comes with seeing adults act violently.

I wanted to comment because your vitriol (valid as it may feel) was based on incorrect facts and, since you are urging action, I thought you would rather have the action be based on truth.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
