John Podhoretz says Kerry is contemptible for reducing the argument against the war to its cost. It is easy to agree. Even accepting Kerry's number of $200B, divide that by 25MM freed people. That's $8,000 per life; per cut off hand; per cut-out tongue; per woman-on-her-wedding-day raped; per child waking, living, and drifting to sleep in fear. Seems like a reasonable price. As an American I am proud to contribute it; as an Iraqi I would be eternally grateful. So what problem does Kerry have? Can't he afford it?
